Building - Design
We are often asked the question "Do you have any standard designs that we can look at?" The answer is no. Whilst it would be easier to slap up houses to a standard design all over the island of Crete, it would not be in the best interests of you, the customer, (or the island). Every plot of land has different view aspects. Every customer has different requirements for their house. Because of this we keep our design team busy, giving you the best solution, to maximise your enjoyment of your house. We can, of course, show you designs that we have completed for other customers to use as a start point.
We use a design team of two architects and a structural engineer. Since we use steel framing technology to provide the structural strength necessary to withstand earthquakes, our designers are free to give you the best possible solution. No necessity for columns and beams to intrude into living space. Large spans are possible to enable you to have very large picture windows to enjoy the wonderful views from your chosen plot of land.
We can complete the design process from afar. The first stage is to get a floorplan and basic design that you are happy with. Once this has been achieved the drawings are handed to the structural engineer, who works out the most cost effective way of giving you the earthquake protection that you need. This may, in a very few cases, involve minor modfications to the design which we will ask you to approve. When the structural engineer has completed his part, the file is handed back to our senior architect who prepares the file for your application to the building office for a building licence.
The whole process can be completed in as little as four weeks, from receiving your instructions to the Building Office accepting your application.
