Buying Property in Crete - Selection

OK. You have done your search on the Internet. You have probably decided what type of real estate you want - a plot of land, an old stone house, a newly built house. Identified properties that you wish to view and arranged appointments to view. Then you see the reality and have to re-think rapidly. You can avoid some of these problems by talking to us before you visit or corresponding by email. We are very strange in that we love customers who ask lots of questions and never mind answering them. Lots of our customers have never visited Crete before coming to buy. How can we expect them to know what life here is like?

You will find that we will tell you if we think you are being unrealistic in what you want to achieve. We do tell you the downsides as well as the benefits and we do tell it as it is. Whilst we may lose customers to snake oil salesmen, who will tell you all sorts of fantasies, we prefer to have customers who we can meet in the street with no worries about how they feel about us.

So having talked to you, we will put together a viewing trip which may be one or two days, depending on what you want. We cover a large area and if there are suitable properties on both sides of the area that we cover, it can take two hours to travel from one to the other. It's easier in summer than in winter, as daylight hours are longer, providing you don't mind a long day. We often modify the viewing trip as we go, having seen your reaction to the first few properties that we show you, but always in consultation with you. Again we are strange in that we really love our customers to openly comment about what they are seeing. We do not mind you telling us that a property is awful. It's not ours so we will not be offended, but will learn from your comments, saving both of us time.

We will meet you, either somewhere convenient or at our office, at whatever time is most suitable for you. In winter we will often pick you up from the airport. We can arrange accommodation and car hire. We do not book flights as we are not travel agents. We will do anything that we can to make your time with us enjoyable. If you have special needs of any sort, do not be afraid to tell us.

Once you have seen the properties, we will review them with you and leave you to make your decision. We will not pressure you into a decision and we will not chase you if we do not hear from you. This is not because we are not interested, we just do not believe in a high pressure sales approach. You need to remember that we often have two sets of customers every day. Lots of them have the same specification of what they are looking for, so if you do see a property that you want, make the decision quickly, as it may not still be available tomorrow. Most of the really good properties never actually make it onto our web site, as they are sold within a week of us listing them.
